Hotel BLOOM! & Harlan Levey Projects Gallery present: Penthouse Art Space Residency Program

In response to cultural budget cuts and the effects of the financial crisis on artistic production around the world, Hotel BLOOM! and Harlan Levey Projects Gallery are pleased to announce their cooperation on a new ‘artistic residency’ program. Each month, an artist, gallery or curator will be offered a place to live and work, as well as event and communication support.

Presidential suite becomes Penthouse Art Space
Located on the 9th floor of the hotel, during the 1970’s and 80’s, the space was a presidential suite hired by celebrity clientele, such as Michael Jackson or President Ronald Reagan. Over the years, it has become a less decadent area, which was not available for hire. In 2014, the floor was reopened as an art space, offering local and international talent a unique opportunity to work, live and exhibit.

Art’n BLOOM!
‘Art and creative lifestyle are part of the Hotel BLOOM! identity. Since the hotel was opened, the aim was to support artists, and in turn guests, by offering a fresh, inspiring and unique environment. Art defines the hotel, and the hotel management finds it important to return the gesture by supporting the arts.’

Penthouse Art Space Residency program
Following a hugely attended exhibition and series of performances in April 2014 parallel to Art Brussels, the Penthouse Art Space collaborated with Design September and 6 international designers in September 2014, and launched this residency program. Between October 2014 and September 2015, the Penthouse Art Space is pleased to offer this residency to artists, curators and galleries from the UK, Poland, the US, Italy and Belgium.

The first residents are Petr Davydtchenko and his partner Astrid Gnosis. Petr graduated with a master in sculpture from the Royal College of Art in London and was a featured artist at Art Brussels last year. Davydtchenko and Gnosis will welcome guests to view and hear results of their residency on 12 December 2014 at 19:00.
